The winery

FAMILY-RUN

The winery

Our winery has been run with passion and dedication for around nine generations. Originally, my ancestors ran it alongside a bakery. For them, winemaking was always more than just a profession—it was a passion passed down through generations.

After graduating from the wine and fruit-growing school in Klosterneuburg in 2000, I took over the winery from my father, Franz Schmidl, in 2009. That year, we converted to organic farming, a milestone that has shaped our philosophy. Being named "Winemaker of the Year" was a special incentive for me to continue on this path.

I'm supported by my husband, who is also a graduate of the Viticulture and Fruit Growing School in Klosterneuburg. After studying food and biotechnology at BOKU, he now works as a research associate at Danube University Krems. But on weekends, his passion draws him to the vineyards, where he actively lends a hand.

Together we share the vision of further developing organic viticulture and combining the tradition of our family winery with new ideas.

FAMILY-RUN

Theresa

Our winery has been run by the same family for about six generations. My ancestors, including my father, Franz Schmidl, ran the winery alongside a bakery. It was always a great hobby for my ancestors, who also put a lot of heart and passion into it. I graduated from the wine and fruit growing school in Klosterneuburg in 2000. In 2009, I took over the winery and converted to organic farming. I was also named "Winemaker of the Year" that year.
